Pope Francis has said that if the Church is to respond to the crisis taking place across the planet we need ‘apostolic creativity’.

“We have to respond to our confinement with all our creativity. We can either get depressed and alienated – through media that can take us out of our reality – or we can get creative.”

Many Church leaders the world have been responding to this call for creativity by experimenting with previously unused or underused technologies such as live streaming, video conferencing and social media.

The future is uncertain, but is certain is that this crisis will change the relationship for many in the Church between evangelisation and technology. This time could be the start of a digital revolution in the way the Church engages with technology and social media. But, the road of creativity is one laden with many speedbumps and obstacles to overcome so its good to have a guide. A guide who has been on the road for many years, seen the pitfalls and has the wisdom born of experience.

For this CV Connect Webinar, we will be joined by Fr Steve Grunow who is the CEO of Word on Fire, the apostolate of Bishop Robert Barron which reaches millions of people by utilising the tools of new media to draw people into or back to the Catholic Faith. Fr Steve has been a frontrunner exploring the possibilities of digital evangelisation for many years. We are talking with Fr Steve about what it takes to be a digital evangelist, how we can use lockdown to prepare and experiment and, what needs to go on behind the screens in our personal lives.
